About Kenny & Associates PT
Kenny & Associates Physical Therapy is a PT-owned outpatient clinic with 20 years of roots in the Triangle community. Our philosophy is simple: People, Not Protocols. PT as it Should Be. Every patient works one-on-one with a Doctor of Physical Therapy across our orthopedic, sports medicine, neurological, and pelvic health specialties—no double-booking, no cookie-cutter treatment plans. We recently opened our second clinic in Durham, NC (January 2026) to complement our established Chapel Hill location, and we’re building a team that reflects the same values we’ve practiced for two decades: clinical excellence, genuine human connection, and a workplace designed around Do What You Love.

No productivity quotas that compromise care. Just one-on-one time with every patient, in a PT-owned outpatient clinic that’s trusted this model for 20 years.
We’re growing across Chapel Hill and Durham, and we’re looking for physical therapists at every stage of their career who share a common thread: clinical integrity, self-direction, and a genuine desire to get better at what they do. Experienced clinicians here have the autonomy to shape how we treat. Newer clinicians get structured mentorship and a caseload that builds with their confidence. Everyone gets a team that respects their time, values their voice, and operates around life balance—not burnout.

  • Active North Carolina physical therapist license (or eligibility to obtain prior to start date)
  • For experienced PTs: 3+ years of outpatient clinical experience with strong manual therapy and clinical reasoning skills
  • For new graduates: strong foundational knowledge, a self-directed work ethic, and genuine coachability—you take feedback seriously and act on it
  • Comfort working across multiple outpatient rehabilitation specialties or developing deep expertise in one
  • Clear, honest communication with patients, colleagues, and leadership
  • A commitment to evidence-based practice and your own ongoing professional growth

Even Better If You Have

  • Board certification or residency in orthopedics, sports, neurology, or pelvic health (OCS, SCS, NCS, WCS)
  • Experience with dry needling, vestibular rehabilitation, or post-surgical rehabilitation protocols

  • Continuing education: Annual CE stipend plus paid time off for conferences, residency programs, and specialty training
  • Clinical model: One-on-one patient care in a PT-owned clinic—no double-booking, no assembly-line rehab
  • Culture: Collaborative, low-stress environment built around Do What You Love—where every clinician has a voice in how the practice operates
  • Coverage: Health, dental, and vision insurance; retirement plan with employer match; generous PTO and paid holidays
  • Clinic life: Reasonable hours, no weekend mandates, and a team that respects your time outside the clinic

PT as it Should Be.  At Every Career Stage.

Physical Therapy Volunteer Program

Real clinical exposure.  Meaningful hours.  A launchpad for your PT career.

LOCATION
Chapel Hill
JOB TYPE
40 hrs minimum
SCHEDULE
8 consecutive weeks
COMPENSATION
Unpaid/ Volunteer
Kenny & Associates Physical Therapy welcomes aspiring physical therapy students and pre-health professionals to gain hands-on clinical observation through our structured volunteer program. If you’re building your hours toward a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program application, this is where those hours become genuinely valuable—not just logged.
Our outpatient clinic in Chapel Hill treats patients one-on-one across orthopedic, sports medicine, neurological, and pelvic health specialties. As a volunteer, you’ll observe evidence-based PT in action, contribute to a patient-centered environment, and gain insight into outpatient rehabilitation from a team that’s been practicing for 20 years.

What You’ll Gain

  • Clinical observation: Watch Doctors of Physical Therapy treat real patients across multiple specialties in a one-on-one outpatient setting
  • PT school hours: Earn and document the observation hours required for PTCAS and DPT program applications, with log verification available upon request
  • Professional development: Build communication skills, clinical awareness, and an understanding of what it means to practice physical therapy the right way
  • Letters of recommendation: Volunteers who demonstrate consistent professionalism and engagement may request letters of recommendation for graduate school applications
  • Community: Join a tight-knit clinic team that invests in the next generation of physical therapists—not just their hours

What We Expect

  • This is a structured program, not casual shadowing. Volunteers who thrive here are proactive, professional, and genuinely engaged—not just present.
  • Proactive contribution: Before observing patient care, complete a minimum of 2 tasks from the volunteer checklist each visit (room prep, equipment organization, supply restocking, etc.)
  • Professional conduct: Observe HIPAA guidelines, maintain patient confidentiality, follow dress code, and limit cellphone use to break periods
  • Consistent attendance: Commit to the same day and time each week for at least 8 consecutive weeks; give 24 hours’ notice for any absence to Volunteer Coordinator Lynn Miller
  • Respectful presence: Follow the therapist’s lead during patient sessions, ask questions thoughtfully, and prioritize clinic flow and patient comfort
  • Self-direction: You are expected to take initiative—notice what needs to be done and do it without being asked every time

How to Get Started

  1. Complete the Volunteer Application.  Includes a confidentiality agreement, HIPAA comprehension form, volunteer agreement, dress code policy, and availability form.
  2. Submit Your Availability.  Indicate a consistent day and time you can commit weekly for at least 8 weeks (minimum of 40 total hours).
  3. Initial Meeting / Orientation.  Brief in-person or virtual orientation to review policies, expectations, and safety.
  4. Receive a Schedule Confirmation.  Your assigned slot will remain consistent for your volunteer period.
  5. Stay Connected.  Volunteers are added to our internal list for optional one-time or event-based opportunities throughout the year.

Who is a Good Fit

Pre-PT, pre-health, kinesiology, exercise science, biology, or athletic training students who are preparing for DPT program applications. Current DPT observation requirements vary by program—most require a minimum of 100 observation hours. Our 40-hour commitment makes a meaningful contribution toward that goal while giving you depth, not just breadth.

Physical Therapist, New Graduate

We’ll invest in your growth—if you’re ready to own it.

COMPENSATION
Most new graduate physical therapist job postings promise mentorship. Ours delivers it—but with an expectation attached. We’re looking for new DPTs who don’t wait to be told what to do next. The kind who prepare before they ask, act on feedback the first time, and treat every patient interaction like it matters—because at Kenny & Associates PT, it does.
This isn’t a sink-or-swim environment. You’ll have experienced Doctors of Physical Therapy in your corner, structured mentorship, and a caseload that ramps with your confidence. But we’ve learned that the new graduates who thrive here share something specific: they’re self-directed. They take initiative in their own clinical development, know when to ask for guidance versus when to problem-solve independently, and are genuinely coachable—not just in the interview, but on day 90 and day 900.
If that sounds like you, this is one of the best places in the Triangle to start your physical therapy career. A PT-owned outpatient clinic. One-on-one patient care from day one. Twenty years of clinical wisdom to learn from. And a team that’s already invested in your success before you walk through the door.

What Your Days Look Like

  • Caseload (ramping): Begin with a supported, reduced caseload that builds progressively as your clinical confidence and skills develop—always one-on-one with patients
  • Clinical reasoning: Evaluate, diagnose, and treat outpatient physical therapy patients across orthopedic, sports, and general rehabilitation populations using evidence-based practice
  • Consultation: Proactively seek guidance from senior PTs on complex cases while developing your own clinical judgment—know when to ask and when to act
  • Coachability: Actively seek, receive, and implement feedback from mentors and peers; adjust your approach based on clinical outcomes and supervisory input
  • Commitment to growth: Take ownership of your professional development through self-study, continuing education, and active participation in case reviews and clinical discussions
  • Charting: Maintain thorough, timely documentation that meets both clinical and compliance standards—developing strong habits from the start

What You Bring

  • Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) from an accredited physical therapy program (new graduate or within first year of practice)
  • Active North Carolina physical therapist license (or eligibility to obtain prior to start date)
  • Strong foundational knowledge in orthopedic and musculoskeletal physical therapy assessment and treatment
  • Self-directed work ethic—you take initiative, prepare independently, and don’t need someone looking over your shoulder to stay productive
  • Willingness to accept constructive feedback and implement changes consistently—not just once, but as a daily practice
  • Clear, honest communication—especially the ability to say “I’m not sure” and ask the right questions at the right time
  • Genuine interest in outpatient physical therapy as a long-term career, not a stepping stone

Even Better If You Have

  • Clinical rotation experience in outpatient orthopedic or sports physical therapy settings
  • Exposure to manual therapy techniques during your DPT program or clinical affiliations
  • Research experience or involvement in evidence-based practice projects
  • Interest in pursuing board certification (OCS, SCS) or residency training within your first few years
  • APTA membership or early involvement in professional advocacy for the physical therapy profession

What We Offer

  • Compensation: [SALARY RANGE] with clear progression tied to clinical milestones and professional development
  • Structured mentorship: Dedicated senior PT mentor, regular case reviews, and a development plan tailored to your growth areas—not a generic orientation binder
  • Clinical foundation: One-on-one patient care model from day one, with a manageable ramp-up so you build skills without burning out
  • Continuing education: Annual CE stipend plus paid time off for courses, with guidance on which certifications will accelerate your career
  • Culture: A collaborative, low-stress environment in a PT-owned practice where new clinicians are developed, not just deployed
  • Coverage: Health, dental, and vision insurance; retirement plan with employer match; generous PTO and paid holidays
  • Career trajectory: A 20-year clinic that promotes from within—your first year here is the beginning, not the ceiling

COMPENSATION
We’ve spent two decades building a physical therapy practice the community trusts. Now, with a second location in Durham and a team that’s growing, we need someone who can turn that trust into reach—without losing the authenticity that earned it.
This isn’t a role where you’ll be posting stock photos with motivational quotes. Kenny & Associates PT has a real story: PT-owned, one-on-one care, 20 years of patient outcomes, and a team that genuinely likes showing up to work. Your job is to make sure the right people—patients and future team members—find us, feel something, and take action.
You’ll own our social media presence, support recruitment marketing for open positions, manage our digital footprint across both locations, and help shape how the community sees us. If you understand healthcare audiences, know how to create content that earns clicks without resorting to gimmicks, and can move between strategy and execution in the same afternoon, keep reading.

What Your Days Look Like

  • Social media management: Plan, create, and publish content across Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and other relevant platforms for both the Chapel Hill and Durham clinic locations
  • Story development: Capture and craft authentic patient success stories, clinician spotlights, community involvement, and behind-the-scenes content that reflects our People, Not Protocols culture
  • Search visibility: Manage Google Business Profiles for both locations, monitor and respond to online reviews, and support local SEO efforts to improve discoverability for physical therapy searches in the Triangle
  • Strategic recruitment support: Create and manage job posting campaigns on social media to attract physical therapists, PTAs, and support staff—writing copy that differentiates us from corporate clinics
  • Site and digital presence: Support website content updates on kennypt.com, including blog posts, career pages, service descriptions, and provider bios
  • Scheduling and analytics: Track engagement metrics, campaign performance, and audience growth; use data to adjust strategy rather than just report numbers

What You Bring

  • 1+ years of experience in social media management, digital marketing, or content creation (healthcare experience a strong plus)
  • Proven ability to create engaging social media content—strong writing, visual eye, and comfort with short-form video (Reels, TikTok-style content)
  • Familiarity with social media scheduling and analytics tools (Later, Hootsuite, Buffer, Meta Business Suite, or similar)
  • Basic understanding of local SEO, Google Business Profile management, and online reputation monitoring
  • Self-starter mentality—you can own a content calendar, manage multiple platforms, and hit deadlines without daily oversight
  • Strong written communication that sounds human and warm, not corporate and scripted
  • Comfort working in a small-business environment where you wear multiple hats and move between creative and tactical work

Even Better If You Have

  • Experience marketing for healthcare, physical therapy, wellness, or fitness brands
  • Basic graphic design skills (Canva, Adobe Express, or similar tools for creating branded social assets)
  • Photography or videography skills for capturing clinic content on-site
  • Experience with recruitment marketing or employer branding campaigns
  • Familiarity with email marketing platforms (Mailchimp, Constant Contact) for patient and community newsletters
  • Understanding of HIPAA considerations in healthcare marketing (patient consent for photos/testimonials, PHI restrictions)

What We Offer

  • Compensation: [SALARY / HOURLY RANGE] based on experience and scope of role
  • Creative ownership: You’re not executing someone else’s content calendar—you’re building and owning the brand voice for a growing practice
  • Compelling material: A 20-year PT-owned clinic with a genuine story, real patient outcomes, and a team that makes your job easier by being authentically good at what they do
  • Collaboration: Work directly with ownership and clinicians who are engaged and willing to participate in content creation
  • Career growth: As the practice grows across two locations, this role can expand into a broader marketing and communications leadership position
  • Coverage: Benefits available for full-time employees including health, dental, and vision insurance; PTO and paid holidays

Great Marketing Starts with a Great Story. We’ve Got One.

If you can take an authentic brand and help more people discover it—patients who need care and clinicians who want a better place to practice—this is your role.
